SMS & TEXT MESSAGING TERMS
How Dorm Butler uses text messages, if you choose to receive them.
Effective September 9, 2026
Last Updated October 1, 2026
1. ABOUT THESE SMS TERMS
These SMS & Text Messaging Terms explain how Dorm Butler may communicate with customers by text message when a customer provides a mobile number and, where required, provides the applicable consent.
These Terms apply to text messages sent by Dorm Butler in connection with its services, customer accounts, service requests, and, where separately authorized, promotional or marketing communications.
By participating in a Dorm Butler text messaging program, you agree to these SMS & Text Messaging Terms as they apply to that program.
These SMS & Text Messaging Terms should be read together with the Dorm Butler Privacy Policy and Dorm Butler Terms & Conditions.
2. SERVICE TEXT MESSAGES
Dorm Butler may use text messages to communicate information related to services you have requested or are receiving.
Service messages may include information such as:
• Pickup reminders
• Return reminders
• Service status updates
• Order or request updates
• Appointment or scheduling information
• Questions about a service request
• Quote or approval communications
• Information needed to complete a requested service
• Account or service notifications
• Other communications directly related to a Dorm Butler service or request
Service messages are intended to help Dorm Butler communicate important information about your customer relationship.
3. MARKETING TEXT MESSAGES
Dorm Butler may separately offer customers the opportunity to receive promotional or marketing text messages.
Marketing messages may include information about:
• Dorm Butler services
• New service offerings
• Seasonal offerings
• Promotions
• Events
• Customer opportunities
• Other Dorm Butler updates or promotional content
Marketing text messages require separate consent where applicable.
Agreeing to receive service related text messages does not automatically enroll you in marketing text messages.
Providing a telephone number for a Dorm Butler account or service does not, by itself, constitute consent to receive marketing text messages.
4. SEPARATE CONSENT
Dorm Butler treats service messaging and marketing messaging as separate communication categories.
Where consent is required, Dorm Butler will obtain the applicable consent before sending the corresponding category of messages.
Consent to receive marketing text messages is not required as a condition of purchasing a Dorm Butler service.
You may purchase or use Dorm Butler services without agreeing to receive marketing text messages.
If you choose not to receive marketing text messages, you may still receive necessary service related communications when permitted by applicable law and when those messages are necessary to provide or administer a service you have requested.
5. HOW TO OPT IN
When Dorm Butler offers an SMS program requiring consent, you may be provided with an opportunity to opt in through an applicable website form, account feature, service process, text message enrollment process, or other available method.
The applicable enrollment experience will identify the type of messaging for which consent is being requested.
You should only provide a telephone number that you own or are authorized to use.
By providing a mobile number for an SMS program, you represent that you are authorized to provide that number for the applicable communication.
6. MESSAGE FREQUENCY
Message frequency varies.
The number of messages you receive depends on your relationship with Dorm Butler, the services you request, your account activity, your communication preferences, and whether you separately opt in to marketing messages.
Dorm Butler does not promise a fixed number of messages unless a particular SMS program expressly states otherwise.
7. MESSAGE AND DATA RATES
Message and data rates may apply depending on your mobile carrier and wireless plan.
Dorm Butler does not control the rates, fees, coverage, or service policies imposed by your mobile carrier.
You are responsible for any charges imposed by your carrier or other telecommunications provider.
8. HOW TO STOP MARKETING MESSAGES
You may opt out of Dorm Butler marketing text messages at any time by replying STOP to a marketing message.
After receiving an opt-out request, Dorm Butler will process the request and stop sending the applicable marketing messages, subject to reasonable processing time and any messages that may already have been queued or initiated.
Opting out of marketing messages does not necessarily stop service related communications that are necessary to provide or administer a service you have requested, where such communications are permitted by applicable law.
9. HELP AND SUPPORT
You may reply HELP to an applicable Dorm Butler SMS message for assistance where that functionality is supported by the applicable messaging program.
You may also contact Dorm Butler directly with questions about text messaging or your communication preferences.

10. UPDATING YOUR PHONE NUMBER
If your mobile number changes, you should update your Dorm Butler account information or contact Dorm Butler so that your communication preferences and contact information can be updated.
You should not continue using a telephone number that you no longer own or control for a Dorm Butler SMS program.
If you transfer a telephone number to another person, you are responsible for removing that number from your Dorm Butler account or notifying Dorm Butler of the change.
11. SHARED OR REASSIGNED NUMBERS
Dorm Butler is not responsible for communications received by a person who later obtains a telephone number that was previously associated with another Dorm Butler customer.
If you receive a Dorm Butler message intended for someone else, please notify Dorm Butler and do not attempt to access, use, or disclose information that does not belong to you.
Dorm Butler may take reasonable steps to update or remove a number from its applicable messaging records when notified that the number is no longer associated with the intended recipient.
12. SERVICE COMMUNICATIONS MAY CONTINUE
Opting out of marketing text messages does not necessarily prevent Dorm Butler from communicating with you through other methods or from sending service related communications that are necessary to administer a service you have requested, where permitted by applicable law.
For example, Dorm Butler may need to communicate information about a pickup, return, service request, account matter, quote, or other transaction.
If you no longer want service related communications, you may contact Dorm Butler to discuss available communication options. Certain communications may be necessary to provide a requested service.
13. EMAIL AND OTHER COMMUNICATION METHODS
SMS messaging is only one method Dorm Butler may use to communicate with customers.
Depending on the circumstances, Dorm Butler may also communicate through email, the customer account, telephone, website notices, or other available communication methods.
Changing your SMS preferences does not automatically change your preferences for other communication channels unless Dorm Butler specifically provides that option.
14. THIRD PARTY MOBILE CARRIERS AND TECHNOLOGY
SMS delivery depends in part on telecommunications networks, mobile carriers, wireless devices, and other technology that Dorm Butler does not control.
Dorm Butler cannot guarantee that every text message will be delivered immediately, delivered successfully, or received in every location or on every device.
Messages may be delayed, blocked, interrupted, or otherwise affected by carrier or network conditions, device settings, coverage, technical issues, or other circumstances outside Dorm Butler’s control.
Dorm Butler is not responsible for carrier service interruptions or other telecommunications conditions outside its control.
15. DEVICE AND NUMBER REQUIREMENTS
You are responsible for maintaining a compatible mobile device and active mobile service if you choose to participate in an SMS program.
Dorm Butler does not provide mobile devices, wireless service, cellular coverage, or carrier plans.
You are responsible for ensuring that your device is capable of receiving text messages if you choose to receive SMS communications.
16. PRIVACY
Dorm Butler’s collection and use of information associated with SMS communications is governed by the Dorm Butler Privacy Policy.
The Privacy Policy explains how Dorm Butler may collect, use, disclose, retain, and protect personal information.
Customers should review the Privacy Policy for additional information about personal information and communications.
17. NO GUARANTEE OF MESSAGE DELIVERY
Dorm Butler does not guarantee that a text message will be delivered at a particular time or that a message will be received.
Text messaging is dependent on third party telecommunications infrastructure and other systems that may experience interruptions or delays.
Customers remain responsible for monitoring their Dorm Butler account and other available communication channels when timely service information is important.
18. SECURITY AND CUSTOMER RESPONSIBILITY
Customers should use reasonable care when accessing text messages on shared or public devices.
Dorm Butler may include limited information in a text message because text messaging is not always a private communication environment.
Customers should not forward or share Dorm Butler messages containing information intended for them personally.
If you believe your telephone number or account has been compromised, contact Dorm Butler promptly.
19. CHANGES TO SMS PROGRAMS
Dorm Butler may modify, suspend, replace, or discontinue an SMS program or particular messaging feature.
Dorm Butler may also change the types of service or marketing messages sent through an SMS program, subject to applicable consent requirements.
If material changes are made to these SMS & Text Messaging Terms, Dorm Butler may update this page and provide additional notice where appropriate.
20. CHANGES TO YOUR CONSENT OR COMMUNICATION PREFERENCES
You may change your marketing communication preferences at any time using the applicable opt-out method or by contacting Dorm Butler.
Dorm Butler may retain records of consent, opt-out requests, communication preferences, and related information as reasonably necessary to administer its messaging programs, comply with applicable requirements, resolve disputes, and maintain appropriate business records.
21. RELATIONSHIP TO OTHER DORM BUTLER POLICIES
These SMS & Text Messaging Terms apply specifically to Dorm Butler text messaging.
They do not replace the Dorm Butler Terms & Conditions, Privacy Policy, Service Policies, Cancellation and Refund Policy, Accessibility Statement, or Disclaimer.
Each policy addresses a different part of the Dorm Butler customer experience.
If another Dorm Butler policy contains a specific rule concerning a subject outside SMS communications, that policy applies to the subject addressed by that policy.
